BB&D litigation attorney Chris Bauman was recently honored with the Missouri Bar Foundation David Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award for 2011. Chris was recognized for his successful appeal before the Western District Court of Appeals in Great Rivers Habitat Alliance v. City of St. Peters. The case concerned, among other issues, constitutional issues related to the blighting of productive farm land and the tension between the “fairly debatable” municipal action standard and Missouri’s summary judgment standard.
The appellate Court’s opinion is reported at 246 S.W.3d 556.
The David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Awards were created by the Missouri Bar Foundation to recognize outstanding achievement in appellate practice by young lawyer members of The Missouri Bar. The award is named after the late Judge Dixon, whose tenacity, professionalism and judicial skills epitomize outstanding appellate practice.
