Stephen Hoeplinger has joined the firm’s St. Louis office as an associate, representing individuals and businesses in tort, contract, and real estate litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Steve represented plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation in federal and state courts, including ERISA, securities, and consumer rights class actions. In addition to his time in private practice, Steve has served as a Special Assistant District Attorney for Middlesex County in Lowell, Massachusetts. Steve has also represented individuals in immigration matters. While in law school, he received the William M. Pomerantz trial advocacy award. Steve is licensed in Missouri and Massachusetts. BB&D Secures Dismissal of Lawsuit for Forum Non Conveniens

BB&D, on behalf of Kansas City Southern de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., obtained dismissal of a lawsuit on forum non conveniens grounds. Sixty plaintiffs filed suit against KCSM and its parent corporations in St. Louis County. Plaintiffs’ claims were related to a bus accident in Mexico in 2015. The doctrine of forum non conveniens is a rarely applied doctrine, wherein a lawsuit can be dismissed in one forum where the facts of the case show it would cause substantial inconvenience to litigate it there. The trial court concluded that Mexico, not Missouri, was the proper forum for Plaintiffs’ claims, and that trying the case in Missouri would be an undue burden on Missouri courts. Lawsuit Against NFL, NFL Teams, And Team Owners Arising Out Of Relocation Of Rams Franchise Moves Forward

The City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, and the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority (RSA) recently secured significant victories in their lawsuit against the Defendant NFL, NFL teams, and NFL team owners. The circuit court judge assigned to the case denied three separate motions filed by the Defendants, allowing the case to move forward and discovery to progress. Specifically, The Judge denied motions filed by Defendants to dismiss various defendants and claims and denied a motion to send a portion of the case to arbitration.
