Governor Task Force Member Bob Blitz and his partner Chris Bauman were successful in obtaining a dismissal of Governor Jay Nixon from a suit filed against him and the Regional Convention & Sports Complex Authority. The suit, filed in Jefferson City, was removed to the City of St. Louis because of the pretensive joinder of the Governor. BB&D Attorneys Obtain $20 Million Reduction in Valuation for Property Owner Challenging Tax Assessment

St. Louis law firm Blitz, Bardgett & Deutsch civil litigation attorneys Chris Bauman and Jason Turk successfully argued to the State Tax Commission that the St. Louis County Assessor and Board of Equalization had overvalued commercial property for taxation purposes. The property consisted of nearly 55 acres and 1.2 million square feet of building space spread over 8 buildings. The County sought a valuation of more than $51 million. After hearing expert evidence, the State Tax Commission accepted BB&D’s argument that the true value of the property was $31 million. BB&D Members Bob Blitz And Chris Bauman Win Legal Battle To Keep St. Louis An NFL City

The St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority, in a lawsuit pending in the City of St. Louis, was adjudged to be the proper party to build, finance, and do everything necessary to build a new NFL stadium in St. Louis. BB&D, through Bob Blitz, Chris Bauman, and associate Jason Turk, represented the Authority, which is funding the North Riverfront Stadium Project in St. Louis. The new stadium is a necessity to maintain NFL status for St. Louis. The ruling today also struck down a City ordinance requiring a public vote for funding the new stadium and determined that the placement of the stadium complex is authorized. BB&D Attorneys Obtain Decertification of Wage and Hour Class Action

BB&D recently defended a chain of restaurants and their owners in a class action suit brought in federal court by two former employees. The multi-count suit alleged state and federal wage and hour law violations at all restaurant locations. After BB&D member Chris Bauman and associate Jason Turk sought and were granted an unusually broad scope of discovery for a class action, they aggressively sought records and testimony from all putative class members. Based on the records and testimony obtained, the Court granted BB&D’s motions to decertify classes of employees alleging both federal and state law violations. BB&D's civil litigation trial team, Robert Blitz and Chris Bauman, represented a local resident during a three week trial, in which the Court issued an Order and Judgment on May 14, 2015.
