St. Louis law firm Blitz, Bargett & Deutsch represented a former KV Pharmaceutical (KV) officer, who was sued along with several KV Directors, by Marc Hermelin on claims involving Hermelin’s separation of employment from KV, removal from KV’s Board of Directors, and criminal prosecution. Hermelin sought over $85 Million in damages on his claims against Defendants. After extensive briefing and oral argument, the Court sided with Defendants on all outstanding counts in the case. The Missouri Coalition for the Right to Counsel, a newly formed nonprofit entity, has proposed a system wherein private practice attorneys try certain jury cases in St. Louis and St. Louis County, where they can gain trial experience and reduce the caseloads for public defenders.  BB&D is among more than a dozen St. Louis area law firms that have pledged to provide volunteers who will undergo training from, and begin assisting, public defenders.
